Who will be the next school board president?

On Monday, December 2, 2013, the newly elected school board directors will be sworn into office. According to the agenda, the school board directors will be nominating and electing a new president.

My money is on Larry Lebowitz for president. I bet Mary Birks will be vice president.

The election was a real snooze, attending this meeting would be as exciting and meaningful as watching moss grow.

Larry will be excited, 10:48 PM.

Does this mean we'll be forced to hear "I'm excited about this agenda item" as a lead-in by the board president?

Why aren't these meetings presented via LIVESTREAM like other transparent school district school board meetings?

Then they lose the ability to edit meetings to their suiting.

They should elect a leader...oops.

Every so often I see a great movie like the one that I watched last night, "Jobs". The movie was a rendition of Steve Jobs and the development of Apple.

I really enjoyed the movie.

There are several lessons from the film, but the one most relevant to this discussion is the power of an effective leader who has a vision.

Elaine is correct. We don't have leadership in the SD.

It seems that Lebo is missing a lot of leaders, not just in the school district.

Hi Damion,

I am really excited to see a young, vibrant candidate like yourself enter the arena for public office.

You are going to be a wonderful elected official who will give the community the leadership that it desperately needs.

I hope that you'll always remember these days exchanging views with all of us as you move up with your successful career.

Mt Lebanon has been known to produce many candidates who move up, move on and lose touch with their constituents. I hope that you will not be among them.

Very best regards,
John Kendrick

Mr. Kendrick,

I certainly appreciate your support, but I have yet to make a decision. With recent goings-on in Mt. Lebanon, I fear that I am not the type of Democrat that the Mt. Lebanon Democrats are, in fact, I think I may be the complete opposite which saddens me to realize. When I do decide, I will certainly let every one know and if I do get elected I will continue to post on this blog. Communication is the key to governing. If you don't listen to everyone, you get situations like we have here.

Hi Damion,

That's funny! I was one of three heads of the democratic party when I was an undergraduate at Purdue.

I was always very conservative and I felt that the party would change direction after the embarassing Carter presidency and the humiliating defeat of Mondale in 1984. [Raja was the only candidate that I have ever seen lose with greater embarassment than Mondale.]

After I started working for a living and the D's put Ron Brown in charge of the party I realized that I didn't belong there and I found a happier place in the Republican party.

John Fernsler, who used to be the president of the Mt Lebanon Republican Committee many years ago told me that the MtL Republican Committee was an opportunity to meet and spend time with others who share your common political views, support candidates who think like you do, etc. There was a lot of truth to what he said.

I hope that you'll consider your affiliation and stand on the foundation of your beliefs. Regardless of what they throw at you, if you stand up for what you beleive in you will never go wrong.

Very best regards,
John David Kendrick

Mr. Kendrick what MTL republican committee are you referring too?
Are there two of them?

John David Kendrick said...

I only remember one. The one that Jackie ran.

Mr. Kendrick,

I appreciate your advice but I will always be a lifelong Blue Dog Democrat. It saddens me that the so-called leadership of the Mt. Lebo Dems allow this madness to happen.

John David Kendrick said...

Fair enough - the Republican Committee that I knew and what it has evolved into are two very different political groups.

Mt Lebanon has changed politically also. Politically, it's not the same community that it was pre-2006.

Yep the MTLRC of the past and today's (is there still one?) are as different as day and night.
Based on the past couple of elections one might think republicans are extinct in Lebo.

Anonymous said...

They're not extinct. They are just waiting for the collapse so that they can move right back in...

Yeah, thats right, same strategy the Doodoo Bird, SabreTooth Tiger and Hairy Mastedon are banking on.

You would never know it, but there are three R's on the school board. But there is only one who acts like a Republican.
As I have said in the past, as long as they are responsible with our money, transparent, and fair, I don't care what party they are. If they aren't, I have a problem with that.
