The agenda for Monday's school board meeting has been posted. It includes
PlanCon Part I for High School Renovation Project – PlanCon Part I is required to be submitted for change orders on the project. There are two submissions presented for the Board’s approval as completed by Celli Flynn Brennan Architects. The Superintendent recommends approval of these submissions.
Change Orders for High School Renovation Project – This month’s list of change orders totals $127,994 from the contingency and $4,561 from soft costs for the high school renovation project. The change orders are as follows:
a. GC-107-252 to Nello for $114,842 for excavation, masonry, walls, supports, beams and steel and brick modifications,
b. EL-70-253 to Farfield for $3,459 for electrical and power changes,
c. FP-06-254 for SimplexGrinnell for $5,512 for sprinklers,Naming Rights Policy
d. ME-28-255 to McKamish for $4,181 for ductwork, cabinets and fans, and
e. EL-71-256 to Farfield for $4,561 for phone change.
The Superintendent recommends approval of these change orders.
Revisions to Policy FF, Naming Rights – The Policy Committee is recommending approval of revisions to Policy FF, Naming Rights, at the November 17, 2014 Regular Meeting.

He'd have more work to do if he didn't and it's far easier to just suck money out of the taxpayers pockets!
Let me see if this right. "Our" (since they don't listen to the public) school board decided to build an unaffordable prison-esque high school (as opposed at adhering to the true meaning of "renovation"), and now they're discovering they can't afford it. So the answer is to act as pimp for public space, space for which taxpayers contribute. And naming rights will only be granted based on who the board--THE BOARD--determines is worthy? This town has lost its mind.
Do not forget that the school district assumed full responsibility for any unknowns uncovered when bldg. C is taken down to keep the project under the referendum cap. They haven't even touched that part of the project yet.
What was it then Board President Ed Kubit insinuated in his glossy FAQ distributed through the mtl magazine propaganda rag.
Didn't he write they expected the project to come in well under $100 million dollars?
Any you people re-elected this guy and his cohorts!

About 11 score and 9 years ago this nation threw off its ties with royalty and the priviledge class.
I'll be damned if I'm going to sit back and let money buy title to public facilities and amenities. If there is anything the school district has that we're going to sell naming rights too, I want my name on it!
I figure I and hundreds of thousands of other have already chipped into those facilities and our names should be on them first.
Not somebody that has a lot of excess cash and wants to publicize it.
Now, I don't have a problem with naming, by consensus, say Dixon Field or Bird Park for someone that went above and beyond. Or if someone want to come in and build on their own dime, a soccer arena where we don't have one, that's fine.
But to give away naming rights to a property we've all toiled and sweated to build, galls me to no end!
The yokels on the school board and commission couldn't comprehend and ascertain the media value of naming rights if their lives depended on it.
Their eyes light up with dollar signs every time they think they can't get free money.
A plan was concocted for a public school renovation that depends on elusive donations after the construction has been undertaken and the expenses have mounted.
Not. So. Smart. or. Impressive.
Naming rights donations should have been solicited before the construction. Now the Board is discouraging naming rights by refusing to name something after an employee and by reserving the right to revoke the naming rights in the future in their sole discretion. It will be interesting to see how many naming rights gifts they receive.
I wonder how much the school board has established to buy the naming rights to the Horsman bridge?
If it's not too much, I might buy them and call it-- 'What Dumb Ass Bought This BoUGHt?'
When does the expenditures exceed the allotted contractual cost for the HS construction project? Change orders never cease to be approved by the spendthrift Board. Will the fund raising campaign ever present a balance sheet of donations vs expenditures?
